POLICY FOR MANAGEMENT OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

ARCS is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the ten national privacy principles of the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act of 2001. This Act is designed to give individuals the right to be more informed and have more control over the manner in which their personal information is collected, used, disclosed and stored. This agency is managed according to the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the Australian Social Workers Association and the Psychologists’ Board of W.A. or relevant professional body.

As part of providing a counselling/mediation service to you, we will need to collect and record some personal information from you.

All personal information gathered will remain confidential and secure except when:

  1. your prior written approval has been obtained to
    (a) provide a written report to another professional e.g. a GP or a lawyer
    (b) discuss the material with another person
  2. failure to disclose the information would place you or another person at risk
  3. it is subpoenaed by a court

You may have access to the material recorded in your file upon written request.
