Adoption Research and Counselling Service Inc (arcs) is an independent, not-for-profit community agency offering professional counselling, support, education, research and information to anyone living with the reality of adoption and/or being separated from family.

We provide specialist services that are responsive to the complex issues faced by all of those dealing with the loss and pain of separation from family, and the challenges of reconnection.

arcs provides counselling and assistance to any person who is affected by an adoption experience. As a specialist agency in the field of adoption, arcs is unique in that we work with all parties to adoption. Our experience tells us that adoption is a life long experience. We offer therapeutic and support services for children and adults.

arcs has a long history of working with those who have been affected by separation/loss of relationship with a child. We understand that grief, frustration, confusion and trauma can be experienced by all involved. We’re skilled in rebuilding relationship and connection.

When making the decision to search for family arcs can assist by providing a safe and confidential environment where the searcher can explore their options and have help obtaining original documents.

Specialist counselling

All counselling services are provided by professionally qualified counsellors (social work, psychology and psychotherapy) with an in depth knowledge of the complexities of adoption and separation from family.
