Who we are
arcs is an independent, not-for-profit community agency offering professional counselling, support, education and information to anyone living with the reality of adoption and/or being separated from family.
In recent years, the services offered by arcs have expanded to include individuals and families dealing with issues of family separation, connection and reconnection.
Our counselling services are provided by professionally qualified therapists (Social Work, Psychology, Counselling and Psychotherapy) who have a range of lived experience and in-depth knowledge of the complex issues faced by those dealing with the loss and pain of separation from family.
What we do
We provide the following services:
- Therapeutic counselling services for children who are experiencing loss through family separation or adoption
- Therapeutic counselling services for adults who are experiencing loss through family separation
- Specialist counselling for adoption support
- Search and Contact Services
- Family Court Reunification Services
- Group Work Programs for children and/or parents
Our therapeutic interventions are based on the following, but are not limited to:
- Trauma Informed Practice
- Attachment and Bonding
- Circle of Security
- Psycho-Education
- Somatic Psychotherapy
- Play Therapy
- Theraplay
arcs also provide professional development and training opportunities for groups working with children and families. Our training workshops are suitable for school staff, family court professionals and health professionals. Some of our workshops include - the impact of trauma on children and supporting children to heal, adoption, family separation, attachment and parenting workshops. Training workshops can be tailored to suit your organisational needs.
